Lovely Comfortable Dress
"I am very happy with my dress. The minute I slid it on, it just felt right. It is pretty light weight given how much fabric there is. It lays softly and moves gracefully. I will not need any special undergarments. My event isn't for another three weeks, and I haven't yet sorted out the shoes I'll be wearing, so not sure if I will have to hem it or not, but possibly an inch or two. My one criticism is that the neck opening is not as wide at the collar bone as it looks to be on the model, but maybe that's just the difference in how we fill out the top. I always have to buy dresses to fit my thick waist so they are usually too big in the shoulders, but the shoulder seams on this dress hit me right where they should, so I'm happy with that. The arms are snug but not tight, which I believe makes them look thinner. Overall, the dress makes me look taller and thinner than I am and I anticipate getting lots of compliments. For reference, I am 5'5", 165lbs, with a 38" waist, and a medium bosom. I ordered the 1X. If I'd tried this on in a store, I'd have tried the 0X because the waist is so stretchy it may have worked. Kiyonna-I think this dress would be beautiful in a dusty lavender."

"Comfortable dress, well designed and I loved having pockets. Purchases size 18, fit true to size. One issue: I wish I’d asked someone to take photos of me in the dress before the wedding. This way I would have know that when photographed from the side the sheer lace arms made my upper arms really stand out and look huge. Oh well."

- Hi Ann, The lace on the arms is very soft and comfortable, with plenty of stretch for easy movement. You’re able to move your arms up comfortably without feeling restricted or like the lace is pulling. It’s designed to move with you while keeping you comfortable!
- I think this gown looks perfect for my son’s wedding…I’m debating on the size. I normally wear a 14w-16w and I’m only 5 foot. Thoughts??
- Hi Paula! Congratulations on your son’s wedding, what an exciting moment! 💕 The Maria is such a beautiful choice. Based on what you shared, I’d start with a 0X. If you’re a bit fuller through the hips, it could be worth trying a 1X as well, just to see which feels best on your body. Since you’re 5’, you’ll likely want to have it hemmed, which is super common. Any tailor can just trim the length and keep the original cover stitch, so it still looks exactly as it should. - That is a completely valid concern, Bridget! Our dresses feature flattering slim sleeves but the lace is soft and has plenty of stretch for a comfortable fit. As an alternative, the Celestial Cape Sleeve Gown, Symphony Lace Gown and Duchess Lace Gown all feature flirty flutter sleeves. Hope this answers your question!
- I was wondering about the color. I was looking at the "Leona" and this one, the "Maria". Both are labelled "nocturnal navy". The "Maria", as depicted, appears to be a couple of color wheel notches brighter. Is the nocturnal navy color on the Maria as pictured, or is it more like the color pictured on the "Leona"?
