How did he ‘pop’ the question?: ? Halloween night, we were at his parent’s house, on our laptops working (I was still writing my doctoral dissertation) and we looked up at each other, just started laughing and just “knew” — and posted our engagement on Facebook! So we actually proposed to each other.
How did you meet?: We’d been internet friends for about 8-9 years and at times teased each other about getting married. Late October of 2009, a mutual friend was visiting Louisville, KY (where he lives) and he invited me out to visit.
Looking back – Wedding memory: Dr. Seuss said it best: we are all a little weird, and life’s a little weird and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love. That is our story. 🙂
Tell us about your Kiyonna dresses.: I had first bought the lovely Scalloped Boudoir Lace Dress in cream and was going to use this as my wedding dress. Then I noticed there was also a wedding dress option and took my sister to the Boutique to go see it. We both LOVED how it looked, as it was exactly what I wanted; lace, sleeves, tea-length (I’m 5’1″) and had just a touch of sexy to it. My sister was my Maid of Honor and also bought a Kiyonna dress to wear. A size 2 fit, but got a size 3 to have it a little looser. I am 5’1″, so on me the dress is tea-length. I wore 1/2″ flats. I did have it altered a bit at the shoulders as I am not as busty (easy to do). Otherwise, it fit great and felt so pretty in it!
What is an un-traditional thing you did?: Even though we had a traditional full Mass for our ceremony, we broke with tradition and walked down the aisle together. This worked out great as it allowed us take casual, fun photos beforehand and take advantage of the gorgeous autumn colors outside.
